Description
Ranunculus acris
Meadow Buttercup
Waving flower stems can grow to 75cm tall and the gold yellow cups open from mid-spring to mid-autumn. Evergreen deeply cut leaves. Prefers slightly damper soils, but is a great survivor in meadows since it doesn’t get eaten by cows. Still used by children in the under-chin test for fondness of butter! Looks quite at home in the herbaceous border or under shrubs.
Sow either in autumn or spring.
