Campanula rotundifolia
Harebell is also known as Scottish Bluebell. These hardy perennial plants are found in most habitats apart from damp ones. They tolerate exposed mountainsides and sand-dunes, acid heaths to chalk downland, flowering in summer through to late autumn. Small round basal leaves and wirey flower stems to 30cm hold the delicate sky-blue bell flowers. popular with bumble bees. Named the county flower of Yorkshire in 2002 and is said to help with depression, earache and sore eyes. Folklore says that witches used to turn themselves into hares by drinking juice from the plant.
